Melville House Newport Rooms

The woman who finalized the paperwork with us when we arrived was very nice and the room definitely exceeded our expectations. All around a great experience.

Steps from Thames St! So clean, great location, off street parking, charming & the owner and his son were so hospitable & had us checked in within minutes. Beds were extremely comfortable. Breakfast smelled amazing - will take advantage of it on the next stay!

The atmosphere at the historic Inns was just wonderful. We had booked a room at the Melville but they had space in one of the adjacent buildings with slightly larger rooms and gave us an upgrade for free. The breakfast was not included in our reservation but very reasonably priced for a lot of delicious and freshly prepared food. All the staff was very friendly. We hope to come back!

Really enjoyed our stay at Melville house. The staff was incredible, I got a phone call from Rick before we traveled and he was very helpful in arranging our stay. The rest of the staff was great during our stay too. The location can't be beat, privacy and the kind of historical setting you want in a place like Newport yet right in the middle of all the activity Newport has to offer. Breakfast was a nice addition to this day and easy way to get started on our activities, the process of getting breakfast is a bit rough around the edges but it kind of added to the charm. We will definitely return to the Melville house a great spot right in downtown Old Newport, thanks to everyone at the hotel for a great stay.

The location was great. We could easily walk to a very active part of town with restaurants, bars, shops and nice views

Breakfast was a separate charge. We didn’t realize we didn’t pay for it, so the first morning we came down for a cup of coffee, ended up ordering breakfast- it was prepared with great care. Later the lady at the office charged us for breakfast- she was not the most pleasant person.

My wife and I loved the quaintness of this wonderful historic colonial home. And my wife raved about the comfort of the bed!
